Growing up as a young girl in the Northwest, I love art.   Creating different styles of artwork that are original and different has always brought me great joy. For most of my adult life, I worked with fabric to create quilts and various other objects with fabric.  I am mostly self-taught, but took an art class in college about ten years ago, and my instructor told me to never stop drawing because I have a unique style.  After a trip to Venice, Italy about six years ago, I was intrigued with mosaics. When I saw the work on the inside of St. Marc’s Cathedral, I vowed that I was also going to learn to do beautiful mosaic work.  Shortly after my trip, I took two different classes using two different mosaic techniques that focused on using art glass and tile.  I worked with these techniques and then decided to work more with art glass.  I found glass to hold more depth and sparkle in the completed designs over the tile work.

After winning a “People’s Choice” award the Fred Oldfield Museum Art Show and Contest in 2013 as well as awards from other art shows, I vowed to make a serious effort with my mosaics.  I love my art and I am very proud of my style.  When I sit down to create something new, I don’t have a specific plan as to what it will look like when it’s completed. I begin with my glue bottle and just let the design go where it may. This creative process means that each piece of my artwork is 100 percent original – no two are alike.
